You, hoarder!

Maybe your house doesn´t look like this:

hoardersI really hope it doesn´t. But I bet your mind does.

From the moment we wake up our minds go off like rockets. From “what am I wearing today?” to “I don´t wanna go to school/work” to “I feel like crap”.

Human culture worships the mind. Don´t get me wrong, it´s a very beautiful and powerful tool we have, but the moment you start thinking without even knowing it, your mind has taken over you. The worst part is that our uncontrolled thoughts are usually negative thoughts, driven by fear and fear can only manifest through pain, suffering, anger, anxiety, depression.

In order to overcome that pain, humanity should understand something first: THINKING A LOT DOESN´T MEAN YOU´RE SMART. Thinking a lot doesn´t make you better. Quality over quantity, people.

Clutter sucks. Doesn´t give you time or space to do your stuff. It´s the same with the mind, when you´re incessantly thinking there´s no room to BE, to LIVE.

Solutions, anyone?

Yes, living in the present moment. Taking back control of your mind. Knowing that you are not your mind. You are not your thoughts. You are not the content of your life. YOU OWN your life, not the way around.

Meditation is one tool I´ve used over than 6 months now and it´s working for me. It helped me quit smoking after 11 years of being a very loyal smoker and it´s helping me overcoming my eating disorders. It takes time, patience, responsibility, but it works.

It´s all about training your ATTENTION. Focusing on the present moment. You don´t need to think or feel or even achieve anything to do that. And when you´re not using your mind and you are still then you´ll discover what´s within you. Then you´ll see what life is really about. You´ll see the world as it is.

You can try it now. Just for a few seconds of absolute attention towards the present moment. BE. No need to think but if you do let it be and re-focus again, here and now.

Hopefully, with a little bit of time living in the present moment, your mind will start looking like this:

  1. It is all about focus and clarity. When the mind relaxes it is can focus on the matters that need most attention. When you find the matters that need the attention what needs to be done become clear.

Think about the food that one takes in, that is most similar to the hoarded apartment, but with fat and sugar. Clean that out and the body can itself be clear in thought, relieve anxiety, relieve depression, and restore youth. Just by taking the time to be still then move forward.

    Great post.

  2. Excellent . Really a Great post.

An human must elevate himself by his own mind. The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul, and enemy as well. (Bhagavad-Gita 6.5)
Material life means being subjected to the influence of the mind and the senses, in fact the pure soul is entangled in the material world only because of the mind’s ego which desires to lord it over material nature. Therefore the mind should be trained so it is not attracted to the glitter of material nature and in this way the conditioned soul may be saved.
One who has control over the mind is tranquil in heat and cold, in pleasure and pain, and in honor and dishonor; and is ever steadfast with the Supreme Self.

The mind acts like an enemy for those who do not control it.
